A standard passport is a dark blue biometric e-passport that features the Antigua crest, the country’s motto, and the CARICOM (Caribbean Community) insignia, denoting that the country is a member of CARICOM. The government issues the following types of passports:

Adult passports: Passports issued to adults who are citizens of Antigua and Barbuda. These individuals are older than the age of sixteen and the passports are valid for ten years.

Minor passports: Passports issued to children who are citizens of Antigua and Barbuda. These individuals are younger than the age of sixteen and the passports are valid for five years.

Diplomatic passports: Passports issued to individuals who are authorized to represent Antigua and Barbuda in diplomatic and other international affairs. An example of such individuals is Ministers of Government.

Official passports: Passports issued to individuals who are government officials and represent Antigua and Barbuda’s interests outside of the country.

Obtaining an Antigua and Barbuda Passport

Antigua and Barbuda passports are only issued to individuals who are citizens of the country. There are several ways to obtain citizenship: Birth, registration, naturalization, and investment. Antigua and Barbuda is one of five Caribbean countries that offer a citizenship by investment (CBI) program that allows investors and their families to obtain citizenship – and, therefore, a passport – in exchange for a qualifying investment in the country.

  • Business/enterprise: Minimum investment of $1,500,000 as a solo investor to set up a business in the country, or a minimum investment of $400,000 as part of a joint venture to the total value of $5,000,000
  • University of the West Indies (UWI) Fund: Minimum donation of $150,000 for a family of six or more members

Citizenship by Investment application process

  1. Choose your investment route
  2. Contact an Authorized Agent, such as Global Citizen Solutions, and complete the forms provided by them
  3. The Authorized Agent will submit your CBI application to the Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) on your behalf
  4. The CIU will process the application and issue a confirmation letter stating the application is ‘approved in principle’ to successful applicants
  5. Make your investment and send proof to the CIU
  6. Take the Oath of Allegiance, become an Antigua and Barbuda citizen, and receive your passport
